The University of Scranton, Scranton Tomorrow, and Friends of the Poor have launched a new program to help provide meals to those in need in Scranton. It's called the Electric City Connection.
Here's how it works:
Donate $15 or more through Scranton Tomorrow.
Your donation will be used to purchase $15 gift cards for participating Scranton restaurants, including: Abe’s Kosher Delicatessen, the Black Box Café, DaVinci Pizza, Downtown Victoria’s Gourmet Cuisine, Fratelli’s Pizza & Pasta House, The Glider Diner, A Little Pizza Heaven, Mansour’s Market Café, Pizza by Pappas, Peculiar Slurp, Sacco's Pizza, Savory Maza, Villa Maria Restaurant, Vincenzo's Pizzeria & Catering, and Zummo's Cafe.
Friends of the Poor, which is coordinating emergency food giveaways, will distribute the gift cards to low-income Scranton residents. Gift cards will be redeemed for take-out and delivery meal options.
To learn more about the program, or how you can help, email The University of Scranton Community Relations Office or call 570.941.5529. Additional University partner offices include the Center for Service and Social Justice and The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center.
